this fucking fandom never ceases to make me become more disappointed because you people can’t back off when someone’s actually hurt over a damn stupid issue of a character’s personality. 

Speaking of this, I’m not going to be very actively involved in the zexal fandom anymore, which is the biggest shame ever cause my favourite characters are all coming back. But since the arclights bring out the worst in the fandom because you guys can’t settle over opposing opinions, I can’t imagine what will happen when next week the anti and pro-accidentshippers go head to head over headcanons and character analysis and whatnot.

Two friends have been harassed by this fandom and I can’t take it anymore.

the issue wasn’t, essentially, anything to do with iii’s personality. or about ‘opposing opinions’ for that matter, because as far as i saw, none of the people arguing with your original post were actually debating your characterisation of iii! (though i’ll admit i do disagree with it, but that’s essentially irrelevant at this point).

what was being called out was your reinforcing of gender stereotypes, given the whole 'manly = strong and “metal”, girly = weak and “prancing”’ thing you had going on. and the whole thing about iii showing that 'gender doesn’t matter’, which is like. no. because what you’re doing by saying that is essentially saying that by demonstrating 'girly’ traits iii is less male, which is bullshit and yeah, people are going to call that out! and like ink said - if you’ve got headcanons about him not being cis, great! go forth and have those headcanons, because god knows we don’t have enough representation and the fact characters are assumed cis unless explicitly stated is an issue in and of itself! but if you’re basically saying someone is less male simply because they exhibit ~girly traits~ - which is essentially what you did - then no. and that is what people had an issue with, not ~a damn stupid issue of a character’s personality~. because the issue wasn’t his personality, it was the conclusions you were making and the gender-related comments you were making because of it.

i know that the stuff regarding the gendered nicknames has been called out too already so just. yeah. that’s the point, not his personality.

(also re the post after this: himeshipping has been commented on before, and the only thing i’ll say in the defense of it is that a) it was never intended to be a serious thing and b) it was essentially a joking reference to the vocaloid song world is mine more than anything

that being said, the fact that something else problematic hasn’t been called out doesn’t make it okay for you to say something problematic yourself!)
